News & Events

Crabbs Cross Academy tries hard to keep parents well informed about our events and timetable for the year.  We hope that this section of the website provides information, and should parents have any further ideas of how this area could be developed, please let us know.

To develop our work as partners in a child's education we welcome parents to play an active part in school life during their child's time with us, information about which is contained in the events calendar and regular newsletters.

These events include:

  • every class holding a parent assembly at least once a year

  • regular whole year group productions for parents and carers

  • inviting parents in to work alongside their child in workshops or for curriculum focus events

  • holding parents' evenings and open afternoons

  • sending out an interim report half way through the year, and an end of year report

  • informing parents about their child's attendance

  • using a home school communication book to reach all parents/carers regularly

  • sending newsletters out with regular school news

  • having an open door policy so we can allay concerns quickly

  • holding parent information sessions to upskill in learning approaches

  • informing parents about how their child has achieved in assessments and homework

  • using a yearly questionnaire to try and access the thoughts of all parents and carers

  • holding parent meetings when there are issues of significant concern

....however this list is not exhaustive.

In addition to the above, parents of children with Special Educational Needs will be encouraged to be fully involved in helping us to provide the support required to meet their child's needs.  Individual Provision Maps will be created to identify specific areas children will work on and these will be shared regularly with parents and their views will be used to inform the plans; we also help parents in being able to support their child at home.

There is an active parent body who support the school in fundraising providing a number of very enjoyable activities which help parents engage with school life.

Parent Governors also provide a valuable insight into parental thinking and current concerns, enabling the school to be pro-active in dealing with these.
