Subject Timings

Subject timings are  fluid rather than actual but would be represented by the following if taught weekly, but will more often be in different 'blocks' of time. The only variation on this is that English and Maths as core subjects would have both substantive time allocations per week and would also be exploited throughout the whole curriculum, thus maximising skills application.

·         Computing allocations are for the teaching of subject specific areas, digital skills and information technology aspects will be embedded within other subject areas in application.

·         Religious Education is generally anticipated to be taught weekly, with additional input at times of religious festivities as appropriate to meet the requirements of the local SACRE of 36 hours in KS1 and 45 hours in KS2.

·         The main focus of time is on English and Mathematics, the basic skill areas.

·         Areas such as drama will be cross curricular, but will be aggregated in terms in which the children are performing as part of a production.

·         Music will be mostly taught weekly, but will be aggregated in terms in which children are performing as part of a production.

·         Crabbs Cross Academy places great importance on the teaching of skills in both English and Mathematics.  Accordingly both have a significant amount of time devoted to them in the curriculum and these will be unpacked next in this document.
