Home Learning

At Crabbs Cross Academy, we believe that homework is a shared journey in learning.

Our aim is for homework to be positive, purposeful, and manageable - an experience that supports classroom learning while respecting the needs of busy families. Our homework policy is thoughtfully designed to strike a healthy balance between school work and family time, ensuring that learning continues at home in a way that is both meaningful and achievable.  In reflecting this, as a school we have made the decision that no homework will be set during school holidays.

Learning at home is a chance for children to:

  • Practise and consolidate essential skills such as reading, phonics, and number facts.
  • Develop positive learning habits and foster a love of learning that extends beyond the classroom.
  • Engage in ‘talk homework’ activities that encourage sharing their learning with you and celebrating progress together.

Daily Reading

Reading is at the core of everything we do. It strengthens vocabulary, deepens understanding, and sparks a lifelong love of books. Most importantly, it unlocks the wider curriculum — and the world — for our children.

  • Children should read  at home using the reading books sent home.
  • Regular reading helps develop fluency, comprehension and enjoyment.
