Safeguarding and Hire of Facilities at Crabbs Cross Academy

At Crabbs Cross Academy, safeguarding is at the heart of everything we do, and this commitment extends to all individuals and organisations who hire and use our school facilities. All external hirers must follow our safeguarding expectations, which reflect national guidance on keeping children safe in out‑of‑school settings. This includes ensuring that all adults involved in the activity are suitable to work with children, have completed appropriate safeguarding and health and safety training, and follow safe supervision practices at all times. Hirers must have their own up‑to‑date safeguarding and child protection policy, conduct activity‑specific risk assessments, and have procedures for raising concerns, including a clear complaints and whistleblowing process.

Hirers are responsible for ensuring that children are appropriately supervised throughout the duration of their booking and must limit access only to the areas of the site included in their agreement, in line with recognised best practice for facility hire in schools. They are also expected to report any safeguarding concern or incident that occurs on school premises to the school’s Designated Safeguarding Lead within an agreed timeframe, as outlined in current safeguarding guidance for external providers.
