Year 4 (4CH) Mrs Cooke / Mrs Heffernan
Welcome to Year 4
Come and see the exciting learning that has taken place so far!
MATHS
We have been looking at Place Value - understanding the value of each digit in a 4-digit number, comparing numbers beyond 1000 and partitioning numbers in different ways.

ENGLISH
Our inspiration for writing is the book 'Journey' by Aaron Becker.
We have completed a sequel using expanded noun phrases and abstract nouns.
HISTORY
We are learning about children's lives in the past, with a particular focus on Victorian children. We have learnt that poor children went to work and did dangerous jobs such as sweeping chimneys and working underground in the mines.

We have started to understand what school was like for Victorian children and have looked at sources of evidence such as photographs and artefacts.
PE
Our PE days are Monday and Friday.
On Monday the focus is gymnastics and on Friday the focus will be on fitness.
HOMEWORK
Homework is sent home on Friday and consists of spelling and times table practice. It is due back into school on Wednesday.
Reading books are also sent home on Friday.
