Come and have a look at some of the many learning activities we have participated in during

Year 2!

In English, we focussed on these books to inspire our writing:

The children received a very strange delivery of toys from outer space.

Maths
In Maths, we have been focusing on multiplication. The children have continued to progress through their Number Ninjas challenges. To support their learning at home, please encourage them to log in regularly to their TT Rock Stars accounts.

Science
In Science, we have been learning about micro-habitats and exploring the different environments where living things can be found.

History
In History, we have been investigating the question, “How have toys changed over time?” The children have enjoyed comparing toys from the past with those we play with today.

Across the Curriculum
Here is some of our learning and the fun we have had across the curriculum!

English

In English, we focused on these books to inspire our writing. 

  

 

     

We found some very unusual foot prints around school and had to become detectives to identify the animals who had made them... One of the sets of prints had come from a dodo, which is extinct!

  

 

Maths

In Maths, we have been focusing on addition and subtraction. 

   

Science

In Science, we looked at life cycles & health and uses of everyday materials.  

  

Investigating how germs spread.

Geography 

In Geography, we have been investigating the question 'What is it like here?' The children have enjoyed exploring aerial photographs of our school and local area. They have created their own maps, identified key features on maps and have carried out surveys.

History

In History we have been looking at “How am I Making History?” and children have learnt to place photographs and personal memories in the correct order on a simple timeline, using words such as before and after, and to explain why memories are special and the events they celebrate. They have also learnt to ask questions about childhood in the past, compare childhood now and then, and use key vocabulary to describe the past, present and possible changes in the future.

We created a timeline of our birthdays!

Across the Curriculum
Here is some of our learning and the fun we have had across the curriculum!

    

We have been looking at God as the Creator and looked at nature to inspire our own creations.

 

 

We created sewing patterns for stockings.  Then we learnt to thread a needle and practised our sewing skills before completing our project.

      

We had so much fun during our TTRockstar launch!
