Come and have a look at all the wonderful learning that happens in our class!

At the beginning of the year, the classroom was set up in a way that felt familiar to the children, similar to Reception. Learning took place through a variety of activities around the classroom, which helped everyone settle into the new key stage. Children worked independently as well as in small groups with an adult.

English

During our first two weeks, we have been captivated by our focus text, Journey by Aaron Becker. The children enjoyed exploring the magical, wordless story and using their imaginations to work out what might happen next. We have been learning about nouns and adjectives, building our vocabulary and using descriptive words to bring our ideas to life. We have used everything we have learnt to plan and write our very own adventure stories. Where will their journey lead them next?

Maths

In Maths, we have been busy consolidating our number knowledge to 10. The children have been counting, finding 1 more and 1 less, and learning to recognise numbers when they are written as words. We have also launched our exciting Number Ninjas, giving the children a fun challenge to develop their fluency and confidence with number facts. We can’t wait to see their progress as the year goes on! Which Number Ninja level will they reach this year?
