Wellbeing
Wellbeing at Crabbs Cross Academy
At Crabbs Cross Academy, the wellbeing of every child is central to our safeguarding culture and woven throughout daily school life. We aim to create a warm, nurturing environment where children feel safe, respected and confident to share any worries. Pupils can ask for help at any time by speaking to a trusted adult, using our classroom worry boxes, or requesting support directly from the safeguarding and wellbeing team.
Kim Power, our Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL) and Mental Health Lead, oversees wellbeing across the school. Kim works closely with the Senior Leadership Team, teaching staff and external agencies to ensure pupils’ emotional and mental health needs are identified early and met effectively. Her role ensures that wellbeing, safeguarding and early help are fully connected so that children receive the right support at the right time.
Wellbeing is embedded throughout our curriculum, particularly through PSHE, RHE, and our wider personal development offer. These lessons help pupils understand emotions, build resilience, develop healthy relationships and learn strategies to support their own mental health. Staff also create daily opportunities within class routines to promote emotional literacy, kindness and positive relationships.
Families can also access help through our Family Support Worker. Where additional or specialist support may be needed, we provide clear external signposting to services such as NHS mental health teams, counselling providers, community organisations and Worcestershire’s Early Support pathways.
Together, we strive to create a school community where children feel happy, safe and ready to learn—and where families feel supported, listened to and empowered.
