Autumn Term

During the Autumn term we have been busy settling into our new class, making new friends and gaining confidence exploring the environment. In the first half-term we loved learning all about ourselves through the story 'Super Duper You!' We thought about what makes us special, the people that are important to us and what we want to get better at. In the second half-term our topic was 'Let's Celebrate.' We learnt all about Bonfire Night, Diwali and Christmas. We thought about how we celebrate special times and learnt about traditions and customs important to other people too!

Reception have been busy starting Phonics. They started to learn letter sounds and worked on segmenting and blending the sounds in words. Year One have been busy developing their story telling skills through the story 'Beegu' and have been working on remembering to write the words in their sentences.

In maths Reception have been working with numbers to 6. They have been looking at different ways of representing numbers, ways of making amounts to 6 and exploring more and less. Year One have been gaining confidence with numbers to 10, working on adding and taking away as well as finding one more and one less.
