Our Curriculum
At Crabbs Cross Academy we work together to provide a curriculum that motivates and inspires our children. The children start in Reception and follow the Early Years Foundation Stage. There are seven areas of learning and development that make up the curriculum.
The prime areas are:
• communication and language • physical development • personal, social and emotional development
There are also the four specific areas, through which the three prime areas are strengthened and applied.
These are:
• literacy • mathematics • understanding the world • expressive arts and design
We value outdoor learning and use our outside space and Forest School to enhance the children's experiences. If you wish to find out more, please speak to a member of the Early Years' team.
Once the children join Key Stage 1, learning becomes more structured following a careful transition period in Year 1. The children experience cross curricular learning through topics alongside subject specific learning opportunities. This approach continues into Key Stage 2.
As we have mixed aged classes, we follow a 2 year curriculum cycle. We are currently reviewing this.
If you have any questions about our curriculum, please speak to your child's class teacher or Mrs Briers our Deputy Headteacher.
Please click on the tabs to find out about our curriculum subjects. These are currently under review.
Our Equality Policy below shares how we comply with our duties of the Equality Act 2010 in our curriculum. We are proud of being a very inclusive school
